These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all diagnostic, repair, servicing, programming and related automotive services provided by Voltcheck Motors (“we”, “our”, “us”). By booking a vehicle or providing a vehicle, component or control module to us, the customer agrees to these Terms.
1. Scope of Services
Voltcheck Motors provides professional vehicle diagnostics, repair and automotive electronic services, including:
- Vehicle diagnostics and electrical fault finding
- Auto electrical repairs
- Engine and fuel system diagnostics and supported repairs
- Injector diagnosis, replacement, coding and adaptation
- Automatic transmission servicing
- TCU and mechatronic diagnostics, electronic repair, programming and adaptation
- ECU and control module diagnostics, repair, cloning, coding and programming
- Software recovery and module configuration
- SRS and airbag system diagnostics and supported control module services
- EV and hybrid vehicle diagnostics and supported repairs
- VAG specialist diagnostics and electronic services
- Jaguar Land Rover specialist diagnostics and electronic services
- ECU and TCU Stage 1 remapping
- Other related automotive electronic and diagnostic services
The exact scope of work depends on the vehicle, system, fault, technical information, available equipment, parts and supported procedures.
Voltcheck Motors does not carry out bodywork, full internal mechanical transmission rebuilds or internal high-voltage battery pack rebuilding, including individual HV cell or module replacement.
We reserve the right to decline work that is outside our capabilities, unsafe, unsuitable or prohibited by law.
2. Diagnostics
Diagnostic work is a professional service and is chargeable regardless of whether a repair is subsequently carried out.
A diagnostic fee covers the time, equipment and technical expertise required to investigate the reported fault. It does not guarantee that every fault can be identified within the initial diagnostic period.
Complex, intermittent or multiple faults may require additional diagnostic time. Where practical, we will advise the customer before carrying out substantial additional work.
Diagnostic findings represent the condition of the vehicle at the time it is tested. Intermittent faults may not be present or reproducible during inspection.
3. Estimates and Authorisation
Any estimate or quotation is based on the information available at the time and may change if additional faults, damage or required work are discovered.
We will seek customer authorisation before carrying out significant additional work beyond the agreed scope.
Where a vehicle has been dismantled for diagnosis, additional labour may be required to reassemble the vehicle if the customer decides not to proceed with the recommended repair.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, quotations do not include additional faults or work discovered after diagnosis or dismantling.
4. Parts and Components
Parts may be new, used, refurbished, remanufactured or customer-supplied depending on the agreed repair.
Where used or refurbished components are fitted, their condition and remaining service life cannot be guaranteed beyond any warranty specifically provided.
Customer-supplied parts are fitted at the customer's risk. Voltcheck Motors is not responsible for defects, incorrect compatibility, failure or consequential labour arising from customer-supplied parts.
Additional programming, coding, adaptation or configuration required after component replacement is charged separately unless included in the original quotation.
5. ECU, TCU and Control Module Services
Programming, coding, cloning, software recovery and electronic module repair involve specialised procedures and may require access to the vehicle or module memory.
Where appropriate, original software or memory data may be backed up before work begins.
Some damaged, previously modified, incorrectly programmed or internally defective modules may not be recoverable.
Successful reading, programming or cloning of a module does not guarantee that unrelated hardware faults within the module or vehicle have been repaired.
Donor or used modules may require additional coding, Component Protection procedures, immobiliser synchronisation, configuration or online manufacturer access.
6. Transmission Services
Transmission services may include fluid servicing, external filters, accessible seals or gaskets, electronic diagnosis, TCU/mechatronic work, programming, coding and adaptations.
Voltcheck Motors does not provide full internal mechanical gearbox rebuilding unless specifically agreed otherwise.
Transmission servicing or electronic repair cannot guarantee correction of faults caused by internal mechanical wear or damage.
Where transmission fluid is already severely contaminated, burnt or contains metallic debris, further internal transmission damage may already exist.
7. EV & Hybrid Vehicles
EV and hybrid work is limited to systems and procedures that can be safely diagnosed or repaired using appropriate equipment and procedures.
Voltcheck Motors does not perform internal high-voltage battery pack rebuilding or individual HV battery cell/module replacement.
Existing battery degradation, internal battery damage or unrelated high-voltage system faults remain outside the scope of a repair unless specifically included in the agreed work.
8. SRS & Airbag Systems
SRS and airbag work may include diagnostics, wiring and communication fault finding, module services, coding, configuration and supported crash-data procedures.
Clearing or restoring crash data does not repair or replace deployed airbags, seat-belt pretensioners, impact sensors, damaged wiring or other safety components.
Any deployed, damaged or defective safety component must be correctly repaired or replaced before the SRS system can be considered operational.
9. Remapping and Software Modification
Voltcheck Motors provides supported Stage 1 ECU and TCU remapping services.
Before remapping, the vehicle should be mechanically and electronically suitable for tuning. Existing faults, wear or mechanical problems may become more noticeable after increased engine or transmission performance.
Power and torque figures are estimates unless the vehicle is independently measured on a dynamometer.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that any vehicle modification complies with applicable insurance, road-use, emissions and legal requirements.
10. Software Updates and Manufacturer Systems
Some services may depend on manufacturer servers, subscriptions, online access, security authorisation or third-party technical systems.
Voltcheck Motors cannot guarantee the availability or continued operation of third-party or manufacturer online systems.
Additional manufacturer charges, subscriptions, security tokens or licences may be charged separately where required.
11. Vehicle Condition and Pre-Existing Faults
Customers must disclose known faults, previous repairs, modifications, water damage, accident damage, tuning or other relevant vehicle history where known.
Voltcheck Motors is not responsible for pre-existing defects or for unrelated components that fail during or after diagnostic or repair work.
Older, damaged or previously repaired wiring, connectors, trim, clips, fasteners and components may be fragile and can fail during normal removal or inspection.
Where practical, significant pre-existing damage discovered during work will be documented or communicated to the customer.
12. Test Drives and Vehicle Operation
By leaving a vehicle with Voltcheck Motors, the customer authorises us to operate, move and road-test the vehicle where reasonably necessary for diagnosis, repair, adaptation or verification.
Test drives may be required before and after repairs.
The customer must ensure that the vehicle is legally permitted to be driven on public roads where a road test is required.
13. Personal Property
Customers should remove valuables and personal property from the vehicle before leaving it with us.
Voltcheck Motors accepts no responsibility for personal items left inside vehicles unless loss or damage results directly from our negligence.
14. Payment
Payment is due when the agreed work is completed and before the vehicle, module or component is released unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Prices are subject to applicable VAT.
Vehicles, modules or components may be retained until outstanding amounts relating to the work have been paid, to the extent permitted by law.
Additional work authorised by the customer will be added to the final invoice.
15. Deposits and Special-Order Parts
A deposit or advance payment may be required for special-order parts, external specialist services, expensive components or other work involving significant upfront costs.
Special-order parts and third-party services may be non-refundable once ordered or commenced where cancellation cannot reasonably be made.
This does not affect any statutory consumer rights that apply.
16. Collection and Storage
Customers must collect vehicles, modules or components promptly after being informed that the work is complete or that no further work will be carried out.
Unless otherwise agreed, vehicles or property remaining uncollected for more than 14 days after notification may incur reasonable storage charges.
Where property remains uncollected for an extended period, Voltcheck Motors may take reasonable steps permitted by Irish law to recover outstanding charges and deal with the property.
17. Warranty
Any warranty provided applies only to the specific work performed and parts supplied by Voltcheck Motors and will be stated on the invoice or otherwise communicated to the customer.
Warranty does not cover unrelated faults, normal wear and tear, misuse, accident damage, water ingress, external electrical damage, subsequent modifications or work performed by another person after our repair.
Used components may carry limited or no parts warranty depending on their source and condition. This will be communicated where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
18. Third-Party Specialist Services
Certain specialised repairs or component-level services may be carried out with the assistance of selected third-party specialists.
Where appropriate, the customer will be informed that an external specialist service is required.
Turnaround times for third-party work are estimates and may be affected by shipping, parts availability or specialist workload.
19. Repair Times
Any estimated completion date or turnaround time is an estimate only.
Diagnostic complexity, parts availability, manufacturer systems, third-party services and additional faults may affect completion time.
We will make reasonable efforts to complete work within the estimated period but cannot guarantee a specific completion date unless expressly agreed.
20. On-Site Services
Most services are carried out at the Voltcheck Motors workshop in Arklow.
On-site service is available only for selected jobs by prior agreement.
Availability, scope and additional charges for on-site work will be confirmed before attendance.
21. Limitation of Liability
Voltcheck Motors will exercise reasonable care and professional skill when carrying out services.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by Irish law.
Subject to applicable consumer law, Voltcheck Motors is not responsible for losses arising from unrelated pre-existing faults, customer-supplied defective parts, inaccurate information provided by the customer, third-party systems or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
22. Customer Responsibility
The customer is responsible for providing accurate information about the vehicle and reported fault and for informing us of relevant previous repairs, modifications or known problems.
The customer is also responsible for ensuring that insurance, registration, roadworthiness and legal requirements relating to the vehicle remain valid.
23. Data and Vehicle Information
Diagnostic and repair work may require access to vehicle identification information, fault codes, software versions, configuration data and other technical vehicle information.
This information may be stored where reasonably necessary for diagnostic records, warranty purposes, invoices or future technical reference.
Personal information is handled in accordance with applicable data protection law and our Privacy Policy.
24. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or reduce any rights or remedies available to consumers under Irish law.
Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with mandatory consumer protection law, the applicable law will prevail.
25. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Any dispute arising from services provided by Voltcheck Motors will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts, without affecting any mandatory rights available to consumers.
